English Matura with JB ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website and learning platform at englishmaturawithjb.org (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

- Account information: Your name and email address when you register. Teachers who request verification also provide an institutional email and optional staff-page screenshot.
- Learning data: Your progress, quiz results, saved vocabulary, bookmarks, streaks, and engagement points.
- Community content: Forum posts, comments, study circle messages, and other content you create on the Service.
- Google Classroom data: If you are a teacher who connects Google Classroom, we sync class names, rosters, and assignments to provide the integration. This data is only used to run the sync feature.
- Usage data: Aggregate, anonymised analytics about how the Service is used, to help us improve.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service, including your account and learning progress.
- To display your name alongside your community contributions (forum posts, comments, study circles).
- To send service-related emails such as challenge invitations, study circle notifications, and teacher verification updates.
- To provide and verify premium subscriptions and process payments through our payment provider.
- To moderate community content and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To improve the Service through aggregated analytics.
3. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with and may pass data to the following third parties, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google — YouTube video embedding and Google Classroom integration (optional, teacher-initiated).
- Stripe — payment processing for premium subscriptions. We do not store your card details; they are handled directly by Stripe.
- Podcast hosting — Episode audio is hosted on a third-party podcast platform and streamed via RSS.
4. Cookies & Authentication
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to third parties.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only: (a) with the third parties listed above to provide the Service; (b) when required by law; or (c) to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users. Teachers can see learning data only for students enrolled in their own connected classrooms.
6. Your Rights
You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Contact page. You may also stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is designed for high school students (typically aged 16–19) preparing for the English Matura exam. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us so we can delete the account.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
