Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of English Matura with JB (the "Service"), operated at englishmaturawithjb.org. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

1. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Students under 18 should register with parental consent.
  • One person may not create accounts for others without authorisation.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law.
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or impersonate any person, or post hate speech or discriminatory content.
  • Post spam, malware, or copyrighted material you do not have the right to share.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
  • Use automated scripts to scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service.
  • Share or distribute premium content outside the Service in violation of our content licensing.

3. User-Generated Content

  • You retain ownership of content you post (forum posts, comments, study circle messages, etc.).
  • By posting, you grant us a licence to host, display, and moderate that content within the Service.
  • You are solely responsible for your content and ensure it does not violate these Terms or third-party rights.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms and may suspend accounts for serious or repeated violations.

4. Premium Subscriptions

  • Some features are gated behind paid premium tiers ("Plus" and "Mentor").
  • Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You authorise recurring charges until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us through the Contact page for refund requests.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice. Existing subscriptions remain at the current rate until renewal.

5. Educational Content Disclaimer

The Service provides educational materials to help you prepare for the English Matura exam. We do not guarantee any specific exam result or grade. Content is provided for learning purposes and should supplement, not replace, your school curriculum and teacher guidance.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, curated content, podcasts, worksheets, and software, is owned by English Matura with JB and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service's content without permission, except for content you are explicitly authorised to download for personal study.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Third-party content (YouTube videos, external links) is not controlled by us and we are not responsible for it.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, English Matura with JB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, or €50 if you have not paid us.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, but your content may remain visible to other circle members or forum users unless you delete it first.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
